Preparing for a National EAS Test
To assess how a national EAS event would function if activated, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) at pre-described times, may disseminate national tests via the EAS broadcast-based Primary Entry Point (PEP) system. Testing the broadcast EAS relay is highly appropriate, as an actual national emergency could well occur when the internet and other forms of communication technologies are unavailable or otherwise compromised.

Preparing for the 2019 National EAS Test
The next national test of the Emergency Alert System is scheduled to happen on Aug. 7 at 2:20 p.m. EDT, almost two months earlier than last year’s national EAS test. (In case of severe weather or other extenuating circumstances, FEMA has a backup test date of Aug. 21.) If you have not already done so, now would be an excellent time to cross key items off your readiness checklist.

Cancelling Unauthorized EAN Queued Event
This Field Service Bulletin provides important guidance on how to remove an
unauthorized national EAN alert from the One-Net alert queue. If this spurious EAN
message was received by a One-Net, it may remain in the device queue pending
automatic transmission on November 9, 2014. This bulletin provides simple steps for the user to cancel any pending alert.

Updating Firmware on Crucial M4 Solid State Drives (SSD) Shipped Between August 14, 2011 and April 20, 2012.
Beginning in August 2011 a vendor change was made to incorporate a larger and more reliable Solid State Disk (SSD) assembly in all DASDEC-II devices. All DASDEC-II units shipped or returned to the factory for any reason during this time most likely have these newer drives from Crucial installed.
